While most of us prefer sharing our homes with dogs or cats, 48-year-old Lisa Van Kula Donovan from Australia was brave enough to invite a giant banded huntsman into her house.

Not only did Lisa provide the spider with a warm home but she also cared for her and helped her give birth to hundreds of little huntsmen in a special “bug room.”

“I only have had her a few months. I found her on the outside of my house and she was pregnant. I brought her in to feed her and give her water. I guessed she was pregnant by the size of the abdomen. And she later on laid a sac,” the woman revealed according to Daily Mail Australia.

After the baby spiders were big enough to take off, the mom-of-three released them both outside and inside the house. While she also released the mom spider so that she could procreate further, Lisa kept one of the baby spiders to herself because she wants to raise it as a pet.

“Most of my friends know having spiders all over my house at any given time is normal,” Lisa added.

“Spiders to me are honestly beautiful. I love the way they walk, their long legs. I also know how misunderstood they are and they’re really just not out to harm anyone.

“99 per cent of spiders can do you no real harm, but it’s the 1 per cent that give them all a bad name.”

The proud, self-proclaimed entomologist went on to plead with people to avoid squishing spiders saying it takes months of effort for them to grow only for people to take their lives in an instant.
