While the majority of people have been raised to pay attention to their surroundings and help the elderly when they are in need of assistance, not everyone was trained to mind the common etiquettes.

In an incident recorded somewhere in China, one young boy was seen sitting on a bus seat and ignoring the elderly woman that was standing right in front of him and waiting for him to move.

As the boy refused to take notice of the woman, she decided to teach him an important lesson by sitting on his lap rather than scolding him or asking him to move again. After sitting on the boy for a while, the preteen finally decided to move onto his mother’s lap instead.

After the footage went viral, the mother has spoken out and said she would have gladly given up he own seat or tell her son to move if only the elderly woman asked her nicely to do so. However, she didn’t offer either of the seats on her own initiative.

Defending the mother and her son, some people called out the senior woman and accused her of “bullying a child” rather than asking nicely for him to move.

Others, however, have pointed out that seniors should be offered seats by other passengers voluntarily rather than being forced to wait and hope for someone to take mercy on them.

The incident follows days after an elderly woman from Sydney, Australia, was spotted standing on a train while a bunch of youths were busy occupying seats and staring at their phones.
