Woman Caught On Camera Keying A Man’s Car In The Parking Lot


Video footage shows a woman walking beside the parked car at Westfield Shopping Centre, Sydney, Australia and scratching it.

The footage has been posted online by the car’s owner Darren Pearce, the accused can be seen walking towards the front of the vehicle, scratching its panel.

His post read: “Just got home from Penrith Westfield shopping centre when I realized my car had been keyed.

“Luckily it was all caught on sentry mode, it shows this lady keying my car clear as day. Please share so we can find this scumbag. Any info please DM me!”

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mr. Pearce said he realized in a few minutes that the whole incident has been caught in his car’s camera. He said: “I think all nice cars are at risk of being vandalized, probably all cars in general really, it’s just that if you vandalize a Tesla you’re going to get filmed.”

According to Mr. Pearce, the incident took place at about 2 pm Sunday while his car was parked inside the carpark of the Westfield Shopping Centre in Penrith.

The footage shows a woman wearing a white T-shirt and pyjamas looking around before scraping her key along the length of the Tesla. The footage has been shared thousands of times on Facebook and Twitter.

“Just had our @tesla keyed in Penrith Westfields shipping (sic) centre carpark,” Mr Pearce captioned the video on Twitter.

“Thank god for sentry mode @elonmusk, retweet to help us catch this lady!!”

Some people were not impressed with Mr. Pearce’s public shaming approach as one said, “Just let me get this straight: you exposed a person to a wide audience calling for a ‘reaction’, in an indiscriminate fashion?”

“Of course she did a bad thing that could be reported to local authorities but on social media, the reaction can be catastrophic.”

While other people defended Mr. Pearce’s actions. Police told news.com.au that they had no problem with Mr. Pearce sharing the footage online.

“Let me help you out,” Viv H wrote to his critics. “For absolutely no good reason, this woman randomly vandalized someone else’s property, in a completely indiscriminate fashion and if you look closely, may have done the same to the car next to it.

“But you keep on attacking the victim.”

According to reports, the culprit has been identified and information has been sent to New South Wales Police for further investigation.
