Wagner, from Thebarton and her friend Sarah Raggamuffin, were driving on Seaview Road in Adelaide towards their home. Everything was fine until they saw a dead female kangaroo on the side of the road. The kangaroo was in an accident where a car hit it and it died.
They did not stop to see the kangaroo at first but later Ms. Wagner realized she saw something moving and there is a possibility of the kangaroo to be alive. They took a U-turn to go check the kangaroo.

They saw the kangaroo and knew it was dead, and it was something else that was moving. Ms. Wagner and her friend Sarah found out that the kangaroo had a Joey inside her and it was alive. The Joey’s legs were out, and he was struggling to come out.
Ms. Wagner took the responsibility to help the baby. She brought a blue baby blanket and flattened it beside the dead kangaroo. She grabbed the baby’s feet, pulled it out, and covered it in the blanket.
While she shared the incident with The Advertiser, she said the joey made little crying noises when she was trying to get him. She had to be gentle because it was pretty tightly packed in there, it was hard to get it out
She got both her hands in there and put it around the whole joey. The Joey is safe and healthy now and was taken to a facility that specializes in looking after kangaroos in Strathalbyn.
Ms. Wagner’s speed and intelligence saved a young an innocent life who was yet to see the world.
