25-year-old Kaitlyn Dobrow, from southern California, got bacterial meningitis when she was 18.
She spent six months in the hospital, had 22 surgeries, and all her four limbs had to be amputated.
Kaitlyn, who uses prosthetics, has now become a beauty vlogger and shares her stunning makeup tutorials online.
Before getting bacterial meningitis, Kaitlyn was enjoying a night out with friends but had to leave due to a bad headache.
Her health deteriorated and she started having fever, a bloated stomach and throwing up.
Kaitlyn told Barcroft: “I had just started a new job at a hotel, so I told my mom in the morning that I would have to call in sick. I went to the bathroom and my knees almost buckled underneath me. That was the last time I stood up on my legs.”
Her body turned purple within 12 hours and she was rushed to a hospital and found out she got bacterial meningitis.
Kaitlyn said the doctors kept cutting her limbs shorter and shorter and she then ended up getting all of her limbs amputated.
She also lost 57 percent of her skin and needed 22 surgeries.
After she recovered, she decided to make a career as a makeup artist. She now creates stunning makeup looks using prosthetics and shares the tutorials online.
She said: “I’m self-taught in terms of make-up, I grew up tap dancing so when I had shows you have to wear the red lipstick and do your hair.”
Kaitlyn would watch a lot of makeup tutorials when she was recovering. She became so obsessed with makeup that she decided to become a makeup artist.
Her life has completely changed after she lost all her limbs but she hasn’t given up on life.
Kaitlyn now has a YouTube channel with more than 200,000 subscribers and has a huge fan following on Instagram as well.
Despite losing all limbs, Kaitlyn is happy with her life. Her illness has made her stronger than ever and she is now inspiring millions.
