Becky Wass, from Falmouth, Cornwall, has made a print at home #viralkindness postcard which allows people to tick boxes outlining what help they need.

The options include ‘pick up shopping,’ ‘a friendly phone call,’ ‘posting mail,’ and ‘urgent supplies.’ Becky said she and her husband decided to choose this kindness campaign because they wanted to help others amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Her card has since gone viral on social media and people who are following the idea are being told to leave any items on doorsteps to avoid any contact. People who are delivering out postcards are also requested to wash their hands.

Becky told the BBC: “Because fear has spread so quickly, its really important to try to spread kindness. I do think in times like this everybody wants to do something to help, and this postcard just makes that a little bit easier.”

Her post about the postcard on Facebook read: “I’ve been feeling pretty helpless watching the news. Maybe you have too?

“I wanted to do something about it, so I’ve made a postcard that I’ll be posting to my older neighbours as this progresses after washing my hands.

“If just one person feels less lonely or isolated when faced with this pandemic, then I’ll feel better about it (I hope!) Coronavirus is scary. Let’s make kindness go viral.”

Health Secretary Matt Hancock confirmed that all people over 70 will be asked to self-isolate for months to save themselves from coronavirus. He was asked to confirm reports of the drastic measure which began last night, to which Mr. Hancock said: “That is in the action plan, yes.’’

“And we’ll be setting it out with more detail when it is the right time to do so because we appreciate that is a very big ask for elderly and vulnerable people.”
