After Alabama passed a bill banning abortion, the raw debate has come again into the spotlight.
Once the bill is approved, it will make any doctor who performs abortion criminals, even in cases of rape and incest.
Liz Wheeler, a conservative commentator, is a strong supporter of the law and aimed to ‘expose liberal hypocrisy’ when it comes to the topic.
Wheeler recently tweeted a photo of a 6-week-old embryo with the caption: “This is “two weeks late on your period.” Two weeks late has arms & legs forming, fingers & toes, & a heartbeat!”
Her tweet was a response to Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, who previously referred to another case, ‘heartbeat bill.’
Ocasio-Cortez tweeted: ‘”6 weeks pregnant” = 2 weeks late on your period. Most of the men writing these bills don’t know the first thing about a woman’s body outside of the things they want from it. It’s relatively common for a woman to have a late period + not be pregnant. So this is a backdoor ban.”
Wheeler wanted to show the advanced development of the embryo by mentioning its features to invoke a sense of ‘murder’ if the embryo is terminated at this stage.
But one Twitter user replied with reasonings in line with proven scientific findings.
