A 28-year-old woman allegedly lured her pregnant friend to a bogus baby shower before killing her and removing her unborn child from her womb.
Rozalba Grimm has admitted to preparing the murder for months before she lured 24-year-old Flavia Godinho to a fake baby shower.
Grimm then called off the baby shower without Godinho’s knowledge and killed the pregnant teacher on August 27 at an old ceramic warehouse in Canelinha, Santa Catarina, Brazil.
According to authorities, Grimm revealed that she became obsessed with stealing a baby after she had a miscarriage in January.
The 28-year-old confessed to bashing Godinho’s head with a rock before using a sharp blade to open her belly and remove the unborn child.
The baby girl miraculously survived and is currently admitted at Joana de Gusmao Children’s Hospital in Florianopolis.
Reports said that Grimm had taken the child to the hospital and claimed she had delivered the child on her own. Officials then became suspicious and called the police.
Grimm and her husband Zulmiar Schiestle have been charged with abduction of the incapacitated, attempted murder, femicide, alleged childbirth, and concealment of a body.
Another pregnant woman was reportedly approached by Grimm but the killer said that she wanted a baby girl, according to O Municipio.
A mother of another pregnant woman told Brazilian news outlet NCS that Grimm approached her daughter but the murderer left after discovering that she was expecting a boy.
Grimm broke the news of her pregnancy on November 17, 2019. In January, she shared another post of her pregnancy journey but did not reveal the gender.
Authorities said that she had a miscarriage that same month but kept it a secret from her relatives. That’s when she started befriending pregnant women and lied to her family that she was still expecting a child. She even posted photos of her with a huge baby bump in May and June.
Grimm then found Godinho on social media, befriended the 24-year-old teacher, and planned a fake baby shower when she gained her trust.
