She told the LiverpoolEcho: “We were in Prague, and I knew I’d put on weight but I’d just ignored it. Then Sean took a picture of me, and I saw it and I felt sick. I just didn’t recognise myself.”

“I’d always been a bit bigger than everyone else, a bit curvier … I just wasn’t happy with the way I looked. I knew I had to change something.”

In March 2018, Kate started her weight loss journey and joined Slimming World in Bootle, Merseyside.

When Kate was size 24, she started hating shopping for clothes. She said: “When I turned 18 I started putting the weight on, and as the year passed it went up slightly. But when I got with my boyfriend at the end of 2016, and obviously we were going out drinking, and eating and it spiralled from there.”

She didn’t want to end up with health problems and decided to do something.

“I knew I had to change something, otherwise I’d end up with health problems … I’m only 23, I didn’t want to end up on medication for the rest of my life because of my weight. I knew, with how much I weighed, that if I’d have kept on going that I’d end up with diabetes, because there’s family history of it”, she added.

Kate said it was very easy to follow the plan of the Slimming World. She also joined a local gym and started lifting weights and running.

She said: “I found the plan really easy. I’m not fussy anyway, I love fruit, veg – all types of food. There’s lots of things to help you, and if you don’t like fruit and veg it’s not the end of the world, there’s lots of tips to help you.”
