A woman was arrested and charged with felony vandalism after allegedly starting a panic by licking a variety of groceries inside a store amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The incident occurred at a South Lake Tahoe Safeway where 53-year-old Jennifer Walker from California licked $1,800 worth of supplies before she got apprehended.
According to the reports, a store clerk has reported Walker walking into the Safeway before picking up several pieces of jewelry and licking them.
After placing the contaminated items in her shopping cart, she continued to stroll through the aisles and reportedly ran her tongue over an array of products before placing them in her cart.
When the police arrived at the scene, Walker was found with a cart full of merchandise, all of which is believed to have been licked by the 53-year-old.
According to the reports, the total price of the items turned out to be $1,800 whereas the woman wasn’t able to pay for them.
Due to the products already being contaminated with Walker’s saliva, the store was allegedly forced to throw them away following the incident.
It is unknown whether the woman has coronavirus or not.
After her disturbing act, Walker was arrested and charged with felony vandalism. According to several reports, she hasn’t explained the reasons behind her actions.
The incident follows as numerous other shoppers around the world were caught in the act of licking and/or coughing on groceries on purpose.
While some do it for unknown reasons, others have even recorded themselves doing so as a part of the so-called coronavirus challenge.
