We have read stories as to how people take their kids for granted and abandon them.
But then there are some other parents who would do anything to get a glimpse of their children.
This story is of a woman of Virginia; it was 2015 when Dana Griffin Graves found out that she was pregnant. She was ecstatic and why wouldn’t she be? After trying for seventeen years, she was finally pregnant.
She decided to surprise her husband by placing buns in the oven. Get the meaning, Buns in the oven, huh?
She asked her husband to see some stuff kept in the oven. When her husband, Arkell opened the oven, there were some buns in the oven, along with baby’s ultrasound pictures in it.
He was surprised, ‘You’re pregnant!” he exclaimed. He was speechless with joy, and elation. His expressions were recorded, and the video was posted on the social media, by the name ‘Buns in the oven’, which became quite popular on the internet.
However, according to the doctors, the baby could prove to be fatal for the mother. She was admitted to the intensive care unit because her blood pressure was sky high.
But Dana was not ready to give up just yet, at 4 weeks; she delivered a baby boy, by means of cesarean section. They named him Kaleb.
She didn’t want to deliver the child until the doctors could take care of her child in the neonatal intensive care unit. Arkell said that it was the selfless love of a mother for her child.
Ever since Dana gave birth to her son, he has spent 143 days in the hospital. He has been through heart surgery, suffered a chronic lung disease, and fluid was drained from his brain.
Dana said that when the first time she heard him cry, his voice was like a melody to her ears. He is called a miracle boy, it was hard not, seeing as how many odds he has successfully cleared.
Now, in 2017, the couple could not decide how to celebrate Kaleb’ second birthday, because there were chances that he would not be able to celebrate his own birthday properly.
Then finally they decided that he does not deserve his parents thinking about the problems he is facing right now. Rather they decided to think about how many odds he has cleared already and the happiness his presence has brought.
Kaleb’s birthday, was then, celebrated at the pumpkin patch. On the Christmas, he will receive a Power Wheel car that will improve his ability to interact and develop.
