A 45-year-old woman has created a Facebook group last week to help the people in need amid coronavirus outbreak.
Susan Franklin from Dudley has created a Facebook group and fundraiser ‘Share to Those in Need’ where residents in need can request help.
The ‘Share to Those in Need’ group has now more than 1000 members where people in need are requesting help from people who can provide help.
The description of the group read: ‘For those vulnerable people out there who need loo roll, hand gel, nappies etc. if you have more than you need, consider passing it on to someone else.’
Susan told when she saw people struggling to get things due to panic buyers, she decided to create the group for those who are vulnerable.
She said people, who are in isolation and can’t leave their homes, will also be benefitted from this.
When she was asked about the overwhelming response her group got, Susan told Black Country Live: “I have been shocked by the response.”
“I know a couple of people have been helped so far, I’m guessing that as things start progressing, there will be more demand. At the moment it’s just an overwhelming amount of people willing to help.”
Susan has also started a fundraiser for people who don’t have time to deliver the needed items to the vulnerable but would like to donate in order to help purchase those items.
The description of the fundraiser read: ‘With people reaching out for urgent necessities as they are forced to self-isolate, this page is to help fund able fit people to support, purchase and deliver the items.’
She has urged everyone to support the group and the fundraiser to help those in need during this difficult time.
Susan said this will make a lot of difference as she has seen people struggling to find things while those who are self-isolating can’t even leave their homes to buy things.
