A woman shares an incredible bond with her 200-pound alligator that lives as a free gator in her home and sleeps on the same sofa as she does.

While some prefer dogs and other cats, 57-year-old Mary Thorn can’t imagine a life without Rambo, her 6’ 6” pet alligator that weighs over 200 pounds.

As the woman explained, her alligator is well-behaved and loves to snuggle up to her and give her hugs. In addition, the gator has his own room, eats his dinner at the kitchen table, and watches TV on the sofa together with Mary.

“Rambo was kept in a dark closet with his brothers and sisters for the first four years of his life. Nobody knew what to do with these alligators, they brought him over to me and I couldn’t say no,” Mary explained.

“He can’t take sunshine, if he goes out in the sun he blisters like I blister so he can’t enjoy a normal gator life.

“I had to invent ways to take care of my gator. So I put clothes on him. People think I’m nuts. I get a lot of slack for that, but you know what? My gator isn’t walking around with sunburn. I protect my gator with everything I’ve got.”

As Mary admitted, she was trained in handling alligators at a young age. While she met hundreds of them throughout her life, however, none was quite like Rambo.

“He is definitely not like regular gators. Regular gators like stinky old nasty meat. Rambo will only eat frozen chicken. He is a spoiled gator,” the 57-year-old added.

“When he is sick and he doesn’t feel good, he hangs out with me everywhere and that includes the bed.”

In addition, Rambo understands and follows as many as 70 commands and recognizes sign language.

“He loves people. He is more like a dog than he is a gator,” Mary added.

Despite her incredible bond with Rambo, Mary warned that other gators aren’t like him and that one shouldn’t try to befriend them because they would most likely get attacked.
