The news comes as the judge mentioned how her comments did not go about seeking harm to any members of the transgender community.

Maya had been sacked from her position at the Center for Global Development, right after she heavily criticized the UK government’s plans that allowed citizens to go about declaring their own gender. Therefore, on that matter, she even posted a Tweet that went viral in no time.

The tweet mentioned, ‘sex is immutable, and hence it can not be conflated with one’s own gender identity too.

In the year 2019, the initial employment tribunal heard her case and decided that it was not at all worthy of gaining respect in a democratic society like today. Moreover, it went on to add how it failed to consider the great pain that came alongside the concept of misgendering.

But now, news reports explain how another judge has stepped in and overruled that particular verdict. He added how her thoughts and opinions were protected under the country’s equality laws and did not appear to be destroying any rights relating to the transgender community.

Without a doubt, the ruling is being seen as a huge disappointment for many that belong to the trans community. However, soon after the news broke out, Forstater appeared with a video statement that spoke about how relieved and delighted she felt to have been heard correctly and vindicated too.

Meanwhile, the director for the legal and policy creation at Mermaids mentioned how the ruling was not and should not be seen as a victory for those involved in anti-trans campaigns. And that’s because trans citizens were still being protected from major discrimination under the country’s law and order system.
