Double-lung Transplantee Fearing For Her Life Again And Has Made A List Of People She’ll Call To Say Goodbye If She Gets Coronavirus


A double-lung transplantee, from Rayleigh, Essex, has made a list of people she’ll call to say goodbye to if she ever catches coronavirus as she fears she may die of the deadly virus.

Justine Laymond, who had one of the world’s rarest lung diseases, was in a three-week coma and has spent weeks on life support.

Her lungs failed 15 times and she received a life-saving transplant in 2006 when a 42-year-old man gave her his lungs.

The 47-year-old, who now fears for her life again, is staying at home to protect herself from coronavirus as she knows if catches the virus, she would die.

Justine is urging people to stay at home to prevent the spread of the virus and not to break the lockdown.

She told Mirror Online: “The sun may be shining outside – but darkness will fall on others who may die, if not yourself. This is not a movie, it’s reality.”

Once again, she is fearing for her life after the coronavirus outbreak and is self-isolating at her home and doing everything to protect herself from catching the deadly virus.

She said: “I’m so frightened. I’m not going out to exercise every day. I need to keep my fitness up so my lungs stay healthy. But I know if I do get it, I will die.

“I would fight for my life if I did get it, but I know it will kill me.”

Justine has made a list of people who she’ll call to say goodbye to if she catches the virus and has already packed an emergency bag.

She has been self-isolating for 12 weeks with her partner Tom Hipperson and is focusing on her health.

She is doing fitness classes at home and keeping herself busy.

Despite her fears, she is ready to fight as she says her mindset is ‘I can do this.’
