Angie Lucas was already starting to think that she would never find the right one for her.
But Airbnb changed her life forever after she booked a two-night solo staycation to celebrate her 40th birthday.
She admitted that it was her first time to use the rental app, and she was over the moon when her Airbnb host, 67-year-old Dennis Weisse, popped the question three months later.
“I was beginning to lose hope that I’d ever meet the love of my life,” Angie shared. “It may sound corny, but Dennis has transformed my life and he treats me like a princess.”
The property owner initially declined her request to stay as he thought that she was planning to have a party.
Fortunately, he realized his mistake and even surprised the birthday celebrant with cupcakes, tequila, and gifts.
“In the end, he sweettalked me and convinced me to go ahead with the trip,” she said.
To make sure that she had the best birthday celebration, Dennis arranged a surprise for her.
“I had the couple who had been looking after the property arrange some balloons, a birthday banner, card, cupcakes and tequila on the kitchen counter before they left,” Dennis shared.
“If they hadn’t left, I would never have come back to Florida, so never would have met Angie in person. The Lord works in mysterious ways.”
Their relationship blossomed and they soon realized that despite their 26-year age gap, they had many things in common.
“The next morning – my 40th birthday – we had coffee and he made me breakfast. We drank champagne mimosas on his pool patio,” Angie shared.
“The conversation got even easier and more relaxed. Despite our age difference it’s very easy to get along and talk to each other.”
Three months later, Dennis proposed to Angie with a beautiful sunset backdrop.
“It was so romantic,” she expressed.
“Living together is great. Dennis always cooks lovely meals for me. We make each other laugh, and dote on one another.”
Angie’s mom, 59, and dad, 63, have been very supportive of their relationship.
“If you find somebody you love and they happen to be much older or much younger than you, as long as you are not harming anyone else and it is consensual and you love each other, you should never let age get in the way of true happiness and the chance of love,” she added.
