A 55-year-old woman was left stunned after she received an email from a property developer who called her a ‘b*tch’.
Sue Meechan, from Basingstoke, Hants, was making inquiries about a two-bedroom flat from Linden Homes.
The woman then received an email from the property developer that began with: “Good afternoon b*tch”.
The email read: “Good afternoon bitch, we’re very pleased to hear of your interest in Linden Homes and that you’ve enquired about our development.”
“We’ve tried, without success, to call you to talk through your requirements and provide further information to help you in your decision-making process. Exciting times! We’re here to help.”
Sue said after making inquiries about a two-bedroom flat, she received calls from the property firm a couple of times.
However, when she missed a call from them, she received this abusive email from them a few hours later.
Sue said: “I just couldn’t believe they would say that. I just couldn’t believe it, I was so shocked and infuriated that they felt they could talk to me like this.”
“I only made a query on one of their properties and I hadn’t fallen out with any of the staff. It’s astounding.”
Sue immediately complained to Linden Homes and a staff member called her to ask her about the email.
The staff member still tried to sell the property that left her more stunned.
She said: “I very quickly told her I was certainly not interested and would not be buying anything from Linden Homes.”
The property firm, which has 18 branches across England and Scotland and has built over 2000 homes in the UK, has apologized for the incident.
They said they are investigating the incident.
A Linden Homes spokesman said: “This is totally unacceptable and we are very sorry that Sue received an email like this.
We are investigating how and why this happened and will take the appropriate action when we understand the circumstances.”
