66-year-old Care Home Resident Died Of Coronavirus After Pleading Amazon Alexa For Help


An elderly resident at Metron of Cedar Springs care home in Michigan died of coronavirus begging Amazon Alexa for help.

66-year-old LouAnn Dagen was one of the 31 residents at Metron of Cedar Springs care home who tested positive for coronavirus.

She was living in isolation in a separate room with the Alexa device.

Before dying of coronavirus on Saturday at a Michigan hospital, LouAnn begged Amazon Alexa for help.

Her sister Penny went through the recordings after LouAnn’s death and found 40 messages.

In one of the messages, LouAnn can be heard saying: “Alexa, help me. I am in pain. I have to find a way to relieve it.”

“Can you help me cope with pain? Oh, Alexa. I’m going to hurt.”

After going through the messages following her death, Penny said: “I just kept telling her there wasn’t anything I could do. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you more. I’d take your pain away.”

31 residents and five staff members at Metron of Cedar Springs care home were tested positive for coronavirus.

One of them was LouAnn who died of the deadly virus on Saturday after pleading Amazon Alexa for help.

LouAnn was in isolation in a separate room and used to call her sister Penny through the device.

Metron told Daily Star Online that LouAnn had been living at the care home for the last 10 years and they cared for her deeply.

Metron told Daily Star Online: “Our thoughts and prayers are with LouAnn Dagan’s sister, family, and friends.”

“She could call her sister through the device and they communicated often. It was a very positive part of her life which we supported fully.”

The deadly coronavirus started in December 2019 and has killed thousands of people so far.
