One woman has sparked a lengthy debate online after she said that her date ‘is no gentlemen’ as he did not buy her meal.

The woman took to TikTok and explained that their date was their first one and it was her who had asked the guy out.

But when she did not bring cash, the guy only bought a meal for himself.

“I didn’t have money, so he only bought himself food,” the woman, who goes by the username @heydiberber, said in the viral TikTok.

She then showed the guy eating his meal while she awkwardly sat in front of him.

The woman then asked for opinions on whether they should have another date: “Go out with him again?” then explained: “He said pay me or pay me no attention.”

She also showed her dissatisfaction after liking another post which read: “A gentleman won’t do you like that.”

Her clip has gained over three million viewers and internet users were quick to share their opinions.

“If he asked you out, then he should be buying. If you asked him out, it would be on you. You asking is a huge red flag,” one woman wrote.

“You should always have money for emergencies, what if he left you there?” another said.

“I personally offer to pay on the first date but knowing your date came expecting a freebie…should he go out again is the question,” a third said.

“She didn’t forget her phone, was she incapable of ordering online and collecting at the counter or using her phone to pay? Pretty sure a lot of younger people have their cards linked up to their phones these days.”
