Fay Ricketts, from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, had her cervix removed after developing cervical cancer two years after giving birth to her first daughter, Isla.
But, Fay and her husband, Karl were left surprised when they found out they were expecting their second baby.
However, medics said at the time that she wouldn’t be able to carry the baby as the baby would fall out without a cervix.
Fay defied all the odds and gave birth to Seren via a planned c-section at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.
Fay told SWNS: “After recovering from cancer, no one really told me I couldn’t try for another baby without a cervix, so we were really excited when we found out I was pregnant.”
“But when I met with the doctor, they explained that as the baby grew, the moment it got to heavy it would just ‘fall out’ of me. We were all so devastated and already attached.”
“I saw her heart and heard it beat during an ultrasound and I didn’t want to terminate the pregnancy – I didn’t want to give up. I’m so glad we didn’t and when she was born we named her Seren because she’s my star – she’s a little miracle.”
Unfortunately, her husband died of a brain hemorrhage at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham eight months after she gave birth to their second child.
Fay was devastated after losing her husband but she found love again in her new partner, Ryan Mahon.
She said: “Ryan and I were old friends and used to work together. I worried that I wouldn’t meet someone who wants to date a widow with two children but Ryan said he’d take me out.”
“From there we just instantly connected and he has been incredible with the girls. I had surgery last July to take the old stitch out and put in a brand new one.”
Talking about her daughter Seren, she said she is doing well and is currently going to a private nursery.
She said: “After everything we’ve been through I’m so lucky to have her and my little family.”
