Woman With Extremely Rare Facial Defect Breaks Beauty Standards

Each person has their own beauty and identity.

After all, uniqueness is what makes the world go round. If we are all the same, and there are no differences among cultures, wouldn’t that make living boring? Isn’t life supposed to be an adventure, and we use our own creativity to take hold of our dreams?

“Remind the world that everyone is beautiful.” These are the words of 26-year-old woman Ilka Brül from Germany when she decided to spread empowerment and positivity by sharing her life story.

Since Ilka was born, she has lived a difficult life. “I was born with a facial cleft and my nose airways were not properly formed,” she shared. “In addition, I lacked on the right side of the tear duct, so that the permanent natural moistening of the eye has led to me right tears have always run out of the eye.”

After numerous operations, Ilka remained confident and strong. She even shared her story and experiences to inspire others to love themselves. About two years ago, Ilka started to pose for some of her friends who are photographers.

“There was so much positive feedback, that I got more and more courage to show myself as I am. Pure and unaffected,” she expressed.

To encourage people to live their lives and come out of their shells, Ilka shares her photos to show that there is beauty in each one of us.

“There is only one way to be ugly: by having an ugly character. No one has to hide because of their appearance!”

Ilka is truly an inspiration to many, and her words of wisdom show what kind of personality she has. Despite having a facial defect, it didn’t become an obstruction for her to become the woman she wants to be.
