The 48-year-old mother and her 55-year-old husband spend almost $100,000 on IVF treatments. Because Mark underwent a vasectomy during his previous relationship, the two decided to have IVF treatments to conceive.

“Each time I got my hopes up and thought that ‘this was it’ and I was going to have the perfect family I’d always wanted – I couldn’t stop crying every time I miscarried,” she told Daily Mail. “We decided to try IVF but despite falling pregnant a number of times, we always lost the baby.”

When they decided to just give up, it was discovered that Louise had ‘killer cells’ that destroy her embryos. That’s when she received the treatment required and finally had a successful pregnancy.

Baby William was born at 37 weeks. “It was amazing,” Louise expressed. “When the surgeon handed him to me, I just couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t believe my luck, I still can’t he was beautiful, I felt as if I’d won the lottery,” she said to 5 News.

Although the parents say people usually mistake them for William’s grandparents, they are delighted to finally have a child.

“I’m not the spring chicken that I used to be and it does take me a while to chase him around the floor but it’s worth it.”
