Daljinder Kaur made history when she became a first-time mother at the age of 72! The boy’s father, Mohinder Singh Kaur, was 80 years old when she gave birth to baby Arman.
The couple had always wanted to have children. However, they were unable to conceive that they started to lose hope.
But thanks to technological advancements, their dreams have finally been fulfilled.
Some people say that having a child over the age of 70 can seem cruel as when the child turns 18, she would already be 90 and that’s an age only a few people reach.
Others also said that she won’t be physically able to meet the demands of parenthood. But how did the couple get the IVF treatment?
For years, the Kaurs had petitioned India’s National Fertility and Test Tube Baby Center. Even though the clinic refused them numerous times, the couple kept on persisting.
They eventually managed to convince the institute that Daljinder met all health standards for bearing a baby.
She was in her late 60s when she started the process and underwent IVF treatments for two years.
Daljinder gave birth to a baby boy and she was able to breastfeed him during the first few months. Baby Arman is smaller than average, which may be because of the old age pregnancy. He weighed less than four pounds, less than the average weight of 7.5lbs.
Despite their age, the two are determined to give their little one a full life.
“We plan to give him the best of everything when he grows up,” said Mohinder Singh.
Daljinder admitted that the pregnancy caused some medical problems. She has now weak joints, high blood pressure, and gets tired more easily. But like what other couples say, they have ‘no regrets.’
“People say, “what will happen to the child once we die?” But I have full faith in God. God is omnipotent and omnipresent. He will take care of everything,” Mohinder Singh Kaur expressed.
