A kind-hearted dog owner has gone viral after adopting six dogs with disabilities and providing them with a loving forever home.
Tracey Fowler from Vermont has been providing unwanted dogs with a second chance at life ever since she had lost her beloved German Shepherd, Hayden.
As of this writing, the Mendon-based rescuer’s pack already boasts of eight dogs with special needs whom she adopted from local shelters.
As Tracey told Bored Panda, she lost Hayden to a “degenerative myelopathy” that landed the pooch in a wheelchair. Despite being disabled, the dog lived his life to the fullest and inspired his owner to honor his passing by taking care of others like him.
“I currently have eight dogs. Six being special needs and 2 being [German Shepherds from before],” Tracey said in an interview with Bored Panda.
And as it appears, the rescue dogs are having the time of their life with their new owner who equipped them with puppy wheelchairs and skis so that they can run around and play.
While the woman admitted taking care of disabled dogs isn’t for everyone, she has grown to see them no different than those that can walk.
“If you are afraid of poop and pee, maybe adopting a special needs pet is not for you. If you’re OK with it, honestly, it’s no different than if they were walking,” Tracey added.
“If we are able to show one owner there is another option besides saying goodbye, then that’s what our goal is.”
