Woman Abandoned In A Dumpster As A Baby Is Now Searching For Her Rescuers


A woman named Amanda Jo Jones was abandoned in a dumpster as a baby in 1983.

She was found wrapped in a blanket and deposited inside a dumpster near the Prado Business Mall in Atlanta, Georgia.

Fortunately, the baby was rescued and sent to foster care later she was adopted by a family. The couple adopted the baby after 3 months of the incident and raised Amanda and her adopted sister Stephanie, in Palmetto and shared every childhood details with them.

Amanda is now 36 years old and she and her husband are proud parents of a son, 9, daughter, 3, and son, 10 months old. But after 36 years, she is searching for the person who saved her life and made a Facebook post to ask for the same.

Her Facebook post reads: “Hi! My name is Amanda Jones,”

“I am trying to find the person/people who potentially saved my life.”

The adoption records in Georgia are sealed, both to the public and the adoptee, and Amanda doesn’t know much about her birth. She lives two hours away in Atlanta.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Amanda Jones was brought to Northside Hospital, where nurses named her “Jan Winter” for the birth month and the season. “Foundlings [abandoned babies] are called Jane Doe and often the staff wants to give them identities,” explains Amanda.

“I want to thank whoever found me because they changed so many lives by being in the right place at the right time,” She told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“My mom read me a book called ‘The Adopted Family’ and she shared bits of information,”

“I kept asking questions and by the time I was 6, I understood that my mom didn’t birth me.”
