A 70-year-old woman reportedly just gave birth to her first child after falling pregnant thanks to IVF.
Jivunben Rabari, 70, and husband Maldhari, 75, have become proud parents of a little boy after the woman conceived her first child through IVF.
While the woman from Mora in Gujurat, India, failed to present an ID to prove her age, she told the reporters she was 70 years old, a statement that could very well be true considering her looks.
According to the new mom, she and her husband of 45 years had been trying for a baby for decades to no avail. They eventually also decided to try out IVF, which can help women get pregnant even after they undergo menopause, in hopes of becoming parents.
Speaking of the couple’s situation, their doctor, Naresh Bhanushali, admitted that their case is one of the rarest ones he has ever seen.
“When they first came to us, we told them that they couldn’t have a child at such an old age, but they insisted,” Dr Bhanushali said.
“They said that many of their family members did it as well. This is one of the rarest cases I have ever seen.”
Though Rabari has instantly become one of the oldest new moms ever, the current record is believed to be held by 74-year-old Erramatti Mangayamma who gave birth to twins back in 2019 after undergoing IVF.
Mangayamma gave birth to “miracle” twin girls after doctors used her husband’s sperm and a donor’s egg before implanting the embryo in her uterus.
“I cannot express my feeling in words. These babies complete me. My six decade-long wait has finally come to an end. Now, no one call me infertile anymore,” she said at the time.
