A heartwarming photograph shows the moment where an eighty-seven-year-old grandfather was escorted out of the hospital arm-in-arm by an NHS medic post recovering from the coronavirus diseases.
Ewart Lockton from Manchester was finally released after his 2-week long battle with the killer disease at North Manchester Hospital was over.
This strong-willed grandpa managed to beat the virus and donning a face mask, he was snapped leaving the hospital as a smiling staff member provided support to him.
Mr. Lockton is currently completing the recovery at his home with his wife Phyllis. The picture was shared in a post by his granddaughter Sophie Edwards on her Facebook page.
She wrote in the post that as everyone deserves to listen to positive stories, her eighty-seven-year-old grandpa said goodbye to the North Manchester Hospital’s staff where he had been for 2 weeks with coronavirus positive pneumonia.
She added that he is now completing his recovery where her grandpa belongs – at home with her grandma. She also thanked everyone for their support and kindness through a crucial time and thanked NHS specifically for their impressive effort.
Her post received the attention of thousands of users who praised the hard work for NHS staff and gave their best wished to Sophie’s grandpa.
The picture was also shared by Ewart’s friend Colin Davies on Facebook. Colin added that he was delighted to receive a phone call from his good friend Ewart Lockton. He also noted that it was great to have good news at this stressful time.
In the U.K., 578 people lost their lives due to coronavirus disease. In the world, there are now more than half a million cases of those affected by this life-threatening disease.
