Residents of a small community in Italy were left stunned after sparkling wine came pouring out of kitchen taps instead of water.
The incident occurred in Castelvetro di Modena where dreams came true for dozens of residents who realized they have gained access to unlimited Lambrusco red wine simply by turning on kitchen taps.
According to the reports, sparkling wine had made it into the local water system after a “technical fault” at a nearby winery.
As the Setticani winery explained, one of their wine storage containers began leaking into the water system and, due to high pressure in the silo, temporarily replaced water in the supply pipes.
While the winery was quick to solve the ‘issue,’ astonished residents have allegedly piled up as much sparkling wine as they could before the miracle expired.
“[They] bottled as much of the precious liquid as they could to enjoy later at a lunch or dinner along with other typical Modenese specialties,” Gazetta di Modena reported.
After the incident, the local council has apologized to the affected people and assured everyone that the problem has been dealt with.
As for the residents, some were seen complaining about the safety of the water whereas others were welcoming the technical fault and hoping it occurs again.
