Wine enthusiasts are appreciating this builder’s mindblowing idea to store wine safely while saving a lot of space.
The builder modified the staircase in a way that it would be used as a wine cellar.
Murray Berrill, an Australian builder who is the owner of the Murray Berrill Constructions, was being praised immensely for his unique and creative idea.
He said that the wine cellar that he made using the space in the staircase can store 156 bottles of wine. He further added that the entire thing was ready within one and a half weeks.
He revealed that he hated unoccupied space while renovating a house. So, he thought to store wine in the drawers in the staircase instead of keeping them behind it.
The images were shared on Facebook by the independent Victorian business, which gathered significant attention and praise from social media users.
This wine cellar staircase is estimated to cost around $5,000. The fifty-eight-year-old builder said that he had not made a cellar staircase but wanted to try and make something unique.
He added that the drawers were wide and extremely strong, and they had spent almost $500 at Bunnings only on the drawers. He noted that the team had to determine how those bottles would fit and ensure that the complete design was robust enough.
His staircase has a built-in thermometer and is well insulated to maintain and track the temperature during hot summer months.
Murray added that the team was also thinking of adding a small unit for keeping the wines chilled.
Users were impressed by the idea and appreciated Murray for his excellent design. One user commented that they loved how he had fit two drawers on each step. Another user joked that the only complaint they had from the design is the lack of stairs.
