Prince William and Kate Middleton’s birthday message to Prince Harry showed that frosty relationship between the two dukes, a royal expert claimed.
The Duke of Sussex celebrated his 37th birthday with his wife Meghan Markle and their son, Archie, and daughter, Lilibet, in the United States.
Members of the royal family wished Harry a happy birthday, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge writing: “Happy Birthday Prince Harry!”
But royal expert Duncan Larcombe told The Sun that William and Kate’s ‘curt’ birthday message to the Duke of Sussex “only serves as proof the ice between the brothers has still not thawed.”
He continued: “Short of ignoring the Duke of Sussex’s 37th landmark completely, their social media post was the bare minimum from a couple who once welcomed Harry as their official Royal gooseberry.
“If anything, this year’s birthday wishes from the Cambridges are an indication of just how far relations between the two warring clans have deteriorated over the past 12 months.”
Last year, the Cambridges shared a fun photo of Harry, William and Kate taking part in a running race. They wrote: “Wishing a very happy birthday to Prince Harry today!”
In 2019, they shared a photo of the brothers smiling together at Harry’s 2018 wedding to Meghan.
But this year, Duncan said he was surprised that William and Kate did not share a photo from the last time the dukes were together.
“That would have sent a message of unity and the shared common bond between siblings who were once as thick as thieves,” he explained.
Other members of the Royal family wished Harry a birthday message.
“Wishing the Duke of Sussex a happy birthday today!” the Queen greeted through her Twitter account.
Prince Charles and Camilla also took to their social media account and wrote: “Wishing the Duke of Sussex a very Happy Birthday today!”
