White House Went Into Lockdown After Protesters Tried To Scale The Walls


The White House underwent a temporary lockdown on Friday after angry protesters attempted to climb the barriers and engaged in a fight with the Secret Service.

According to the reports, thousands of protesters surrounded the seat of the US government and demanded justice for the killing of George Floyd who passed away moments after a police officer was seen kneeling on his neck despite the man’s cries for help.

“The White House is under lockdown orders from the U.S. Secret Service due to protests outside the gates over George Floyd. A dozen reporters, myself included, still inside the West Wing,” Peter Alexander of NBC News tweeted.

Meanwhile, protests have been taking place in several states across the country whereas rioters were spotted looting and burning stores, including those of popular businesses such as Starbucks, Target, and Wendy’s.

On Friday, May 29, some 7,500 protesters have allegedly taken to the streets of Oakland, California, and vandalized parts of the city as they clashed with the authorities.

“Two Federal Protective Services officers stationed at the Oakland Downtown Federal Building suffered gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, one succumbed to his injury,” the police confirmed in an interview with CNN.

As it happens, CNN wasn’t spared from the anger of rioters either, whereas protesters broke into their headquarters in Atlanta and threw a smoke bomb at the police officers defending the premises. They also vandalized the company’s logo.

Meanwhile, one teenage demonstrator from Detroit was shot dead, whereas the police claimed they weren’t involved in the shooting of the 19-year-old who was in a crowd of protesters at the time of the incident.

Over in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the epicenter of the protests over George Floyd’s death, the government has deployed the National Guard and imposed a strict curfew, which takes place from 8 pm to 6 am, in an attempt to counter the more violent protests consisting of plundering, burning, and the destruction of property.point 602 | 1

As the reports have confirmed, Derek Chauvin, the former police officer who knelt on George Floyd’s neck before the man passed out, has been fired and charged with third-degree murder.
