A Wave Machine Malfunction At A Water Park Left People Injured With Broken Bones


At Shuiyun Water Park in northeastern China, a wave machine broke at the pool and caused a 10ft ‘tsunami’ which left people with injuries.

The footage shows swimmers suddenly hit by the massive wave and many sat in swimming rings were flipped upside down. A woman can be seen lying with bleeding legs in the footage.

Swimmers started screaming and people who were holidaying there described the wave as a ‘tsunami.’

The park which was opened in 2015 is based in the Yulong Bay Scenic Area,  authorities have shut down the wave pool for inspection.

A spokesman for the Shuiyun Water Park in Jilin Province, north-eastern China, said: ‘‘It was caused by a mechanical fault. Only around 10 people were injured.’’

‘‘The wave pool was closed for a day for repairs.”

He claimed that just 10 people had been hurt. Officials said that fewer than 44 people were injured, where three were hospitalized with broken bones and serious abrasions.

It is not clear that the injured tourists were refunded their tickets or not.

Recently, two teens died at Splash Kingdom water parks in America just days apart. 

Kendall Williams, 13, died at the water park in Shreveport, Louisiana, according to cops. Emmanuel Ogunfuwa, 19, died at the Splash Kingdom in Canton, Texas.

The waterpark in Shreveport said in regards to Kendall’s death: “Our prayers are with this precious family as well as our first responders and leadership team at Splash Kingdom Shreveport during this very difficult time.”
