Shocking video footage has emerged that shows a gigantic wasp nest inside an abandoned car.
A Chevrolet Malibu was left abandoned at South Louisiana property, containing over one million yellow jacket wasps.
Stinger Exterminations’ wasp and bee expert, Jude Verret arrived at the scene and filmed the video which has now gone viral online.
Verret says in the video: “I got a call on this Malibu, they said they had honeybees. But this is actually Southern Yellow Jackets, which is a paper wasp.”
“Vespula squamosa is the scientific name. And these nests can get huge. This is a perennial, active yellow jacket nest.”
Speaking about the numerous spots of venom, he says: “That’s venom. That’s all venom. And you can smell it, it’s everywhere in the air. I disturbed the nest but I didn’t disturb them all, there’s still a bunch of them in the nest.”
The shocking video was shared online and it received thousands of comments. Internet users shared their experiences with the wasps.
One user wrote: ‘That’s what almost what the west side of my attic looked like when we bought our house. Half a case of wasp spray and several trash bags later we got it cleaned out. Ours was multiple nest however, not one huge one.’
Another said: ‘I know most people do not like wasps (mostly because they sting you) but you have to admire the beauty and intricate detail of the nests they build.
We had one that we had to get rid of as it was in the kitchen and we took it apart and it was very light like tissue paper with compartments inside that carried the baby eggs and the nest itself was beautiful’.
While user joked: ‘An abandoned car to us a home for them … one mans trash is another wasps treasure’.
