Kamala Harris tried to make the graduating class of the US Naval Academy laugh with her “woke” joke she made last Friday.
She had delivered a speech at the keynote commencement address at a Navy Academy ceremony and made sure to reference female empowerment.point 115 | She tells the crowd “You are electrical engineers who will soon help convert solar and wind energy into power, convert solar and wind energy into combat power.point 254 |

She started to laugh but the reaction from the crowd was not what she was expected, the silence was deafening before some soft clapping ensued. The joke was then moved to Twitter and a video of the speech has been viewed more than half a million times by its users.
Benny Johnson comments, “Cadets groan as Kamala cackles awkwardly alone onstage.” While another responded with “Demonstrating once again that there’s nothing funny about being woke.”
Her joke comes a week after President Biden also tried to crack a joke at the Coast Guard graduation ceremony.

He received the same response as Harris, with an unresponsive class listening to him intently. With that, he responds with, “You’re a really dull class. I mean, come on, man, is the sun getting to you?”
In Harris’ commencement address, she also mentioned the work that the Marines did during the pandemic. She mentioned that they figured out how to use 3D knitting machines to make masks, monitoring the spread of the disease. She concludes the speech saying that “The American people are depending on you.”
