Jurnee Farrell had been registered for “Be The Match” for the last 2 years but she skipped the final conference tournament because she had to go donate her blood stem cell to a stranger.
Giving the gift of life is the best thing you can ever do to another creature and this is what this senior volleyball player of Howard University did.
She willingly skipped her final volleyball tournament to go help someone get their life saved.
Jurnee Farrell did not think twice hen she received a call from the hospital that said her blood stem cells are matching a 57 years old woman who is suffering from lymphoblastic leukemia.
The senior at University did not take a minute before skipping the game even though she had known that it was going to be her last game in the university.
She still went ahead with her plan and decided to save the life of the only woman rather than playing her final match.
21 years old Farrell said, “It was not really a question to think twice of. It was defiantly a no brainer. When we get a chance to save someone’s life, we should always take it.
There is no way I could have not gone. Yes, I wanted to play the match but what has to be done, has to be done first. I felt happy after I could help the old woman who is already struggling with life a lot.
This is the last thing I could have done so I did it and it made me happy. If I ever get a chance again I will do it all over again no matter if it is for family or a friend or a complete stranger.”
