26-year-old Nat Thind says he was left impotent after doctors ‘mutilated’ his penis to fix his erection.
It was in June when Mr. Thind from Hampshire purchased Viagra over the counter. He previously used the drug numerous times but he didn’t experience any problems.
However, he was rushed to hospital when his ‘month-long’ erection wouldn’t subside and started to become painful, a condition called priapism.
He claims doctors tried different methods to fix his erection over three days but nothing worked.
Surgery was the only option and it involved using a blade to drain the blood. Mr. Thind says doctors ‘didn’t really know what they were doing.’
His erection disappeared naturally but was left with possible permanent damage.
Mr. Thind said on a GoFundMe page: “In the months following and through speaking to other doctors, I have found that they did not really know what they were doing and it turns out they just “had a go”.
“In their attempts at surgery they caused severe nerve damage.
“As a result I am now left with a mutilated penis, a numb tip, the inability to get an erection or achieve orgasm, random shooting and burning pains and penile fibrosis.
“Going from having a healthy sex life to no sex life is devastating and is taking its toll on relationships. It is most definitely not easy living with this dark secret that I feel so ashamed of.”
Pharmacist Superdrug says that 1 in 1,000 people who take the drug will have a ‘prolonged and sometimes painful erection.’
Priapism occurs when the blood that has flowed into the penis is unable to flow out again, causing an erection that lasts for more than four hours.
Speaking about his impotence, Mr. Thind added: “I have been living with this for almost four months now, trying to get help and get the treatment I need to get back to a normal life through the NHS, the health service we pay our taxes and national insurance for.
“It is taking its toll on me mentally as well as physically.”
Mr. Thind has been prescribed Viagra to try and treat his impotence but he wants to go abroad for treatment, including nerve reconstruction, vascular reconstruction and penile reconstruction.
