People were left teary after seeing the moment a nurse gave a 94-year-old D-Day veteran a cushion with his late wife’s face on.
Carer Kia Tobin and 94-year-old Ken Benbow were on Good Morning Britain after the emotional video went viral.
The clip shows the former Royal Navy servicemen crying when he received the pillow with his wife’s face on. Ms. Tobin wraps her arms around the veteran as he says: “Aw that’s so special.”
Mr. Benbow then shows other home residents the pillow and they tell him that the cushion is ‘beautiful.’
“I thought that might be a bit better than your photograph,” Ms. Tobin says but the veteran found it difficult to speak and simply gives her a hug.
Thistleton Lodge shared the heartwarming video online with the caption: “We know our residents are missing their loved ones at this time but let’s not forget those who sadly aren’t here with us any more.
“Today, one of our lovely staff Kia Mariah Tobin gave Ken a pillow with his beloved wife on who we also cared for. Safe to say we all shed a tear with Ken today.”
People were left teary after watching the video, with one internet user writing on Twitter: “Love you Ken and what an incredible example Kia is! Obviously loves her job and is so pretty and kind.”
Another wrote: “Ken Benbow is one of the most remarkable interviewees I’ve ever seen. There are rare moments when you watch TV that you realise you’re witnessing something completely out of the ordinary, this was one of those moments.”
A third added: “Listening to the lovely Ken and Kia on GMB and having a sob.”
