A veteran firefighter who served with the Los Angeles Fire Department for two decades is believed to have been kidnapped while vacationing abroad.
48-year-old Francisco Aguilar was at his apartment in Rosarito, Mexico, when he suddenly disappeared and stopped responding to his family over two weeks ago.
As the police revealed, they found the firefighter’s place ransacked and furniture scattered all around, prompting fears that the father-of-two was violently kidnapped from his condo unit.
According to the reports, the 48-year-old’s jeep and motor are also missing.
As the firefighter’s family explained, they didn’t receive a ransom request as of this writing. The police, however, have become “concerned” after retrieving the CCTV footage, which they allegedly refused to speak about or show to Aguilar’s daughters, from the firefighter’s home.
Following the veteran firefighter’s disappearance, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti vowed to do everything in his power to bring the hardworking man back to his family.
“We will work tirelessly to make sure that Frank is returned safely. That this is somebody who has put his life on the line for us,” the mayor said.
“And if this message gets to anybody who would dare kidnap an Angelino who serves the people of Los Angeles. Let him go and make sure that he is able to safely return to our city and to his family.”
Speaking of Aguilar’s vanishing to ABC News, one of his daughters, Amaris, explained her father was enjoying the beach as they talked via FaceTime.
“I will go to the ends of the earth for you. And I can’t wait until you get back so we can give you a big hug,” she said.
As Aguilar’s other daughter, Bella, admitted, everyone is getting “worried sick” about the dedicated firefighter.
“We’re just so worried sick. Every day is getting harder. Anxiety is getting much worse as the days go on,” she told ABC News.
