Vegan extremists who raid farms could face up to five years in prison if the new laws are passed.
Provoking farm invasions would be punishable by up to one year in prison and those inciting theft and damage could face five years behind bars.
The Australian Senate is debating the new laws to create offences for those inciting protesters to steal, damage or trespass.
The new sweeping laws were proposed after vegans raided abattoirs in New South Wales and Queensland in April and March.
Militant vegans marched across the land of many farmers, chained themselves to machinery, and even broke into cattle sheds.
One Facebook page also shared a map showing the addresses of farms to make it easier for other protestors to know exactly where to go.
The Labor Party and Liberal Party both support the bill which amends the 1995 Criminal Code Act.
But the Greens are against the bill as they believe the major political parties are on the ‘wrong side of history.’
Mehreen Faruqi, Greens animal welfare spokeswoman, said the legislation was unnecessary and terrible, calling the move a ‘gag’ to protect large companies from scrutiny.
She told parliament: “This is an anti-protest bill dressed up as protection. It takes us further down the road to a police state.”
Senator Faruqi also said anyone who thought the acts were about protecting dad and mom farms had the wool pulled over their eyes.
She added: “You lot seem to have completely missed the fact that every state and territory already has trespass and incitement laws.”
Government minister Zed Seselja said the bill was to support farmers who provide fiber and food for the country.
“The Greens have of course made it clear they are on the side of the vegan terrorists,” he expressed.
Labor frontbencher Murray Watt said: “I will not have any truck with people who issue death threats against farming families, against children and against businesses.”
