A vegan has caused nationwide outrage after blocking the meat section at several stores and blaming meat-eaters for Australia’s bushfire crisis.

Animal activist Tash Peterson, who is a member of Direct Action Everywhere, paid a visit to multiple Woolworths and Coles outlets in Perth to call out meat-eaters for ‘fueling’ bushfires.

“Australia is on fire, meat, dairy and eggs is the fuel, watch cowspiracy,” one of the woman’s signs read.

While holding the sign, Peterson also played a loud recording of bushfire news coverage with the help of her portable speaker.

After the sound of sirens from the recording spread throughout the store, angry shoppers and staff confronted the vegan and forced her and her team to leave.

“This is actually really offensive can you please go away,” one father, who was shopping with his son, yelled. “It’s not really appropriate to be doing something like this here.”

In her battle against meat-eaters, Peterson has also taken to social media to advertise her beliefs.

“I don’t want to come across as callous during such a difficult time in Australia; however, we need to recognize the fact that this devastation has been initiated primarily by animal agriculture,” she suggested.

“Animal agriculture is the leading cause of climate change, deforestation, wildlife extinction & a majority of other environmental catastrophes.”

The incident followed shortly after a controversial vegan blogger Leanne Ratcliffe, a.k.a. Freelee the Banana Girl, said that the “barbarian” diet consisting of animal products is the fuel “burning the country to a crisp.”

“Australia is on fire, and meat, dairy and eggs is the fuel,” the blogger said in one of her YouTube videos.

“Every time you line up at the supermarket for meat, dairy and eggs, you’re throwing petrol on your backyard fires.”
