Vanessa Bryant has slammed Evan Rachel Wood and called her ‘vile and disturbing’ after the actress called her husband ‘rapist’ only hours after he tragically died.

Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant died in a helicopter crash on January 26 last year.

Wood tweeted hours after the NBA legend’s death: “What has happened is tragic. I am heartbroken for Kobe’s family. He was a sports hero. He was also a rapist. And all of these truths can exist simultaneously.”

The grieving mother responded to the Westworld star, saying that she had only found out about the tweet.

Bryant took to Instagram stories and said: “This just came to my attention. Your false, insensitive, defamatory and slanderous tweet on 1/26/20 is vile and disturbing to say the least.

“Behavior like this is part of the reason why innocent black men go to jail for crimes they didn’t commit. An accusation doesn’t make someone guilty. YOU DON’T KNOW THE FACTS OF THE CASE.”

Fans came to the basketball player’s defense last year after Wood’s post, including Dr. Dolittle star Kayla Pratt.

She replied to Wood’s tweet: “Evan. We met as kids & I grew up in the same industry as you and have admired your work from afar these past few years. On camera and off. But this tweet? How f**king dare you?”

After receiving criticism last year for her Twitter post, Wood said that her tweet was “not a condemnation or a celebration” of Kobe and his death, according to E! Online.

Woods wrote that her post was “a reminder that everyone will have different feelings and there is room for us all to grieve together instead of fighting. Everyone has lost. Everyone will be triggered, so please show kindness and respect to all.”

According to the outlet, the actress deleted her tweets after receiving more backlash online.

It was in 2003 when a 19-year-old employee of Lodge and Spa at Cordillera in Colorado accused the NBA legend of sexual assault.

The teen accused Bryant of causing bruising to her neck and raping her. The basketball player denied her claims and insisted that the sex with her was consensual.

Prosecutors later dropped the charges after the woman refused to testify.
