The police have named the vandals who got arrested for vandalizing local businesses by smashing windows and spraying graffiti during a riot on Friday night.
According to the authorities, the eight people that got arrested are facing rioting charges for wreaking havoc in Manhattan, New York City, and causing $100,000 worth of damage.
“On Friday, September 4th, these individuals were arrested for rioting during demonstrations in Manhattan,” the NYPD stated.
“They were part of a large group breaking storefront windows. Our investigation into this incident continues.”
The accused vandals include Jane Buffo, 19, Elliot Rucka, 20, Adi Sragovilh, 20, Etkar Surette, 27, Claire Severine, 27, Jade O’Halloran, 30, and Frank Furhmeister, 30.
Among the arrested rioters was also 20-year-old student Clara Kraebber, who has been recognized as the privileged daughter of a psychiatrist and an architect who bought a $1.8 million apartment in the Upper East Side back in 2016 according to the New York Post.
“I wonder how her rich parents feel about their daughter. How would they feel if they graffitied their townhouse?” a source, who is a member of the law enforcement, reportedly told the New York Post.
As the source added, the incident represents “the height of hypocrisy” whereas “this girl should be the poster child for white privilege, growing up on the Upper East Side and another home in Connecticut.”
The Friday ‘protest’ followed shortly after the death of Daniel Prude and was brought to life by groups known as the ‘Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement’ and the ‘New Afrikan Black Panther Party’.
It is not clear, however, whether the arrested individuals have any ties to the two groups or if they were acting on their own accord.
According to the police, seven of the eight arrested vandals are New York natives whereas one of them came to the Big Apple all the way from Portland.
