Body of US Air Force Pilot Found After A Lethal Crash in the North Sea


A United Stated Air Force (USAF) F-15 pilot’s body has been found after the fighter jet crashed in the North Sea, in the shores just off of the coasts of England.

The 48th Fighter Wing has announced that it has located and recovered the body of the pilot after what turned out to be a lethal crash. The unit said it was a day of sorrow and tragedy for them, the pilot’s families and the 493rd Fighter Squadron.

In its earlier statements, the unit had said that they have yet to identify the reason of the crash and said that they have asked for the help and cooperation of the local forces. The UK Search and Rescue forces have reportedly aided the search for the American pilot.

The pilot has been announced as the single crew that was on board the F-15C Eagle that crashed, which was set to be on a training mission as scheduled. Like all other F-15 jets stationed in Europe, this particular jet was stationed at Royal Air Force Lakenheath.

Official reports and announcements confirmed that the jet crashed into the ocean on Monday, 9:40am. The British coast guards said that they received reports some 74 nautical miles away from the nearest land.

Not long after the search party was organized, the coast guards identified the wrecks of the crashed jet. At this point, they immediately began the search and rescue step of the process, during which they found the body of the pilot.

Since there were no more individuals involved, the mission was ended upon the discovery of the pilot. The identity of the pilot has not been revealed or confirmed to the public as of this writing.

The American ambassador to the United Kingdom, Woody Johnson, shared this information along with his condolences via his Twitter account.

Ambassador Johnson said that it was with great sorrow that he has received and shares the death of an American in uniform, saying that he sends his condolences to all the loved ones in both the US and the UK.
