In order “to support diplomatic affairs” The US and South Korea have canceled major war plans against North Korea.

The aforementioned war plans were a major cause of tension in the Korean Peninsula but the second summit between the US President and North Korean Leader shows that war will have to wait.

The conference, though came to an end without an agreement between the two leaders, both of them have come to terms about working towards denuclearization and a peaceful settlement.

An “active dialogue between the US and North Korea based on the outcome of the talks” is expected between the two nations according to a statement released by South Korea according to a discussion that entailed on the summit.

The statement added, “Through close consultation between the authorities of South Korea and US Defense, the two concluded to end Key Resolve and Foal Eagle,” in reference to the mock attack drills conducted between the forces of the US and South Korea against North Korea.

The drills were conducted to denounce Pyongyang and demonstrated the preparation for an invasion. North Korea also conducted such drills in the past to manifest its military strength. China also intervened and called upon the US to cancel such drills which are against the nation which is ready to pursue denuclearization.

The annual drills were put on hold ahead of the Winter Olympics last year as a result of the initiation of dialogue between the leaders of North and South Korea, followed by those between Kim and Trump.

Well, Trump is no fan of the drills either. He tweeted recently that the cancellation of joint military drills will “save hundreds of millions of dollars for the US.” He added, “Also, reducing tensions with North Korea at this time is a good thing!” Certainly.

Now, much smaller military exercises will be conducted to replace Key Resolve and Foal Eagle according to US officials.

The cancellation of military drills by the two nations have come across as a symbol of peace and respect for diplomatic affairs. The outcome of the decision is reduced tension in the Korean Peninsula.
