Woman Recorded The Moment A Weird Egg Began Hatching On Her Backyard


Have you ever found a mysterious egg in your backyard? A woman did, and she did not know what to do with it.

She assumed it to be a bird’s egg, but when the hatching began, she was completely surprised.  It wasn’t a bird but a fungus known as Clathrus archeri or devil’s fingers.

This strange mushroom has some peculiar characteristics because of which people to confuse it with a mysterious egg before hatching. When the mushroom is still inside the membrane, it appears to be an alien with tentacles on. But when it breaks free, it still looks like that.

Octopus Stinkhorn is another name given to devil’s fingers. It is found in different parts of the world and is regarded as a crazy fungus species. This isn’t the only fungus species that can make you baffled. Others with similar alien looks have been found.

Once the fungus hatches from its egg, it grows its red, long arms that look like tentacles. Because of its terrible stench and appearance, it is also called ‘Octopus Stinkhorn.’

There is a dark but sticky looking coating in the interior of the fungus. It is called the gleba which is responsible for containing the spores. The fungus might appear to be poisonous, but in reality, it is edible.

But its horrible taste and foul odor will make you think otherwise. Scientists have said that you should only eat this fungus if extremely necessary.

There are many strange mushrooms that exist in the world like the ‘strawberries and cream’ mushroom or the bleeding tooth fungus etc. These fungi have a bitter taste.

There’s a fungus known as the cedar apple rust fungus that thrives on cedar or apple trees.

Coral funguses have quite a distinct appearance just as their namesake. They grow on decaying wood just as any other mushroom does. Their taste has been found to resemble that of cabbage.
