The 2020 underwater photographer of the year contest has announced its winners.
Over 5,500 images were submitted by more than 500 participants from across the globe. With so many amazing photographs, the judges certainly had a tough time choosing the winner.
Dr. Alexander Mustard MBE, chair of the judges for UPY, said that he understands how much effort photographers put in to choose their entries, and the judges try even harder to pick the best among them.
He further stated that the judging panel has different tastes with regards to underwater images, but they respect each other and listen to the opinions and arguments put forward.
After thorough analysis, the judges crowned Greg Lecoeur from Nice, the Underwater Photographer of the Year. Along with the grand prize, the contest battle in twelve primary categories and two additional segments.
