Ahh, to be a teenager again, when you have all the exuberance of youth but haven’t completely thrown off the “yoke” of childhood especially when it comes to drinking liquor.
But circumventing those restrictions is what makes an activity like drinking all the more exciting.
And there are many ways to do that. Perhaps one could “borrow” the ID of one’s sister or brother or even try out those fake driver’s licenses if one was willing to spend for it.
When an electrician accidentally left his passport at a pub, allowing a teenager to use it for himself to get into pubs and even brothels. Fortunately, the teen’s conscience convinced him to own up to his misdemeanors and contact the passport’s owner, Joe Hunter, from West Yorkshire.
Two years ago, the twenty-one-year-old Hunter lost his passport while he was in a bar in Halifax. Since he was due to fly to Lanzarote two weeks later, he had to fork out for an emergency passport as well as get a crime reference number from the cops. It was a big hassle but Hunter managed to get it done and managed to make it to the Canaries.
Which is why he was a bit surprised when an 18-year-old student suddenly contacted him to come clean about his original lost passport. Luckily for everyone, Hunter decided to look at the funny side.
He said: “I was in hysterics when I realized he was serious. I thought ‘what a guy,’ I definitely found it funny because it’s something I’d do.
“I scrolled down on his Instagram and every single post he had a drink in his hand or he was at some event or on a night out. I’m glad it’s served him well.
“He said it’s been passed around so much. Apparently, it’s been used in brothels and all sorts of places, so fair play to them.”
Hunter politely declined the student’s offer to return the passport since he already had a new one anyway. It was enough for him to find out that his passport hadn’t been used for nefarious purposes.
He said: “When I first lost it I got the police involved and they warned me that it could be in the hands of an illegal immigrant, but I thought that was a bit far stretched and always thought it was more likely that some kid would be using it as a fake ID.
“I like the fact that he’s got back in touch with me and revealed where it’s been all this time, I think it’s hilarious just to think that it’s been used by all these different people to have a good time.”
In the end, all’s well that ends well. And kudos to the guy who offered to return the passport, tardy as the offer may have been.
