A healthy and fit Uber driver lost his life a week after a lady coughed in his cab repeatedly, as per the claims of his family.
Ayub Akhtar who hailed from Norwood in London was only 33-years-old when he lost his life to the coronavirus disease a few days back.
He had sent a text message to his family from the intensive care where he said that he was really scared and asked them to pray for him.
His brother, Yasser, revealed that his brother’s condition had deteriorated very quickly. Ayub was unmarried and lived with his siblings and his mother in Norwood.
He began coughing and experiencing breathing problems a short while after he picked up the female passenger.
He then told his family that he feared the lady had the disease and shortly after the incident, he started showing symptoms of the coronavirus disease.
Yasser confirmed that Ayub had told them about the woman passenger coughing continuously behind him a few days before in his Prius and that it worried him.
Yasser added that Ayub also began coughing and felt chilly all the time. The family had to keep the central heating on for helping Ayub.
Yasser noted that he would hear his brother painfully coughing and struggling for breath at night from another room.
Ayub’s sister, Saleha, then called NHS helpline, who asked them to monitor Ayub’s condition.
Yasser further revealed that the paramedics came to get him only when his condition worsened so much that he could not even breathe properly.
First, Ayub was admitted to Mayday Hospital, Croydon, and then was transferred to Tooting’s St. George Hospital, where he breathed his last breath. The family had planned to get him married soon.
