The 50-year-old TV and movie star paid the bills of all elderly grocery shoppers at 29 Winn Dixie outlets in New Orleans and 44 Kroger stores in Atlanta, Georgia.

A large number of stores are dedicating time to elderly people so that they can shop without the danger of being in large crowds.

According to a source’s statement to PEOPLE, “He [Tyler] wanted to do something special to provide immediate relief for some of the most vulnerable in the two cities he considers home.”

Tyler is known for his acts of generosity even before COVID-19 time.

Last year in November, Tyler helped an Atlanta couple by paying their $14,000 medical bill.

The couple had to undergo some medical procedures during a visit to Mexico and were barred from leaving because they could not pay their medical bill.

Tyler didn’t only pay for the medical bill of the couple but also covered their travel expenses after they were allowed to go back home.

During the Christmas season in 2018, Tyler made it to the headlines when he paid for all the layaways at two Walmart stores in Atlanta.

Layaway is a facility that allows shoppers to reserve items for them by paying a small amount and pay the balance when they pick the item up.

A spokesperson for Walmart, LeMia Jenkins, told PEOPLE at the time that Tyler paid $434,000 to cover the costs for 1,500 layaway customers at the two stores.
