Entertainment mogul, producer, writer, and actor Tyler Perry has become Hollywood’s newest billionaire according to Forbes.
In an interview with the business magazine, Perry admitted that “ownership changes everything” as he claimed he loves it “when people say you come from ‘humble beginnings’” because what that really means is that “you were poor as hell.”
As Forbes estimated, the 51-year-old entertainer, who was once homeless, is currently worth around $1 billion, whereas his assets consists of his $280 million 330-acre studio in Atlanta, his real estate, and some $300 million in personal wealth.
According to the outlet, the director and producer also has a content catalog worth some $320 million thanks to his rights to 22 movies, some two dozen plays, and around 1,200 episodes of various TV series.
Besides his 330-acre Atlanta studio, Perry also owns a series of properties across the States and is known for having homes in cities including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Jackson Hole, and more.
On top of everything, the Hollywood actor and producer, who was brought up in poverty in New Orleans, has two private planes at his disposal.
Speaking of his road to success, Perry said he had no mentors to guide him or teach him about business.
“You got to understand, I had no mentors. My father doesn’t know anything about business, and my uncles and mother, they know nothing about this. I didn’t go to business school. Everything I’ve learned, I’ve learned in progress,” the 51-year-old told Forbes.
